Location: Based in National Office, Wellington

Our National Education team is responsible for the development, procurement, oversight, quality assurance and review of education programmes, provided to learners across the Corrections estate.

 

This Principal Adviser role contributes to the leadership of the Education team and works closely with diverse groups within our organisation and with external service providers, to ensure our internal staff and external partners provide a suite of programmes that meet the needs of our learners and are consistent with best practice.

 

Education programmes need to meet the current and future needs of our learners, therefore this position offers the opportunity to make a difference by influencing at a national level, ensuring development of high quality, up to date, well- delivered programmes across our various sites

 

Key accountabilities for the position include:

  • Research and analysis
  • Development and implementation of education activities,
  • Contract management,
  • Leadership and mentoring,
  • Stakeholder engagement,
  • Supplier Relationship Management,
  • Project Management and quality assurance of education practice and outcomes.

 

Imperative to your success in this position will be:

  • Your ability to leverage off your networks and experience in the tertiary education sector.
  • An understanding of the role digital learning plays in education coupled with a working knowledge of the NZ Qualifications Framework, NZQA quality assurance processes and TEC funding processes.
  • Sound knowledge of foundation and vocational education coupled with a genuine interest in the needs of specific learner groups such as Women, Youth, Maori and Pacific people.

 

As this is a pivotal role, you will quickly establish relationships and credibility across the organisation and with our education providers, enabling you to objectively evaluate success, identify needs and analyse delivery gaps whilst assisting in developing robust plans that evolve and enhance our service.
