Finance sits within Shared Services, a branch dedicated to supporting the rest of the Department to succeed by providing corporate services that help business groups and people within DIA to make the best contribution to New Zealand.

We have an opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our team. Working in the Financial Control team you will be mainly responsible to provide financial accounting services for the Lottery Grants Board and associated Trusts. To ensure accurate financial reporting, assist the audit processes, and lending your expertise to improvement where they can be made. You will be an escalation point for technical accounting matters, providing analysis and advice for operational decisions to the Board.

Key requirements of the role include:

  • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience preparing financial statements.
  • An ability to provide technical advice to business units in relation to accounting requirements.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A passion for improving business processes while maintaining a strong internal control environment.

You will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and have a recognised CA (ANZ) qualification or equivalent with at least 3+ years' financial accounting experience in a recognised Chartered Accounting firm or large complex environment.

You're systems-savvy; totally confident with SAP or equivalent, an Excel wizard and good with people. You will need to have sound technical accounting experience, the ability to prioritise your workload and meet deadlines while having an excellent eye for detail. Most importantly, you're a team player, have an open, approachable and collaborative communication style and are capable of building productive stakeholder relationships.
