Wellington Region (including Hutt Valley and Porirua)

Permanent opportunity

The Regional Health Advisor role is responsible for providing MSD staff (in particular Case Managers) throughout the region with a network of information, advice and support on matters relating to health and the impact these may have on employment.  The RHA works closely with Case Managers to determine how they can assist MSD clients to reach their employment goals and what services may be available to help them achieve this. 

Required skills:

  • current registered health practitioner (e.g. nurse, physiotherapist, occupational therapist)
  • collaborative approach with strong relationship management skills
  • excellent communication skills, including confidence in facilitating group presentations
  • well networked in the health and disability sector
  • experience in a rehabilitation or employment focus preferred
  • ability to gather and analyse data to make evidence-based recommendations essential.

Communication skills will be paramount to the role, along with the ability to build rapport, contribute and work collaboratively with front-line service delivery staff.   The ability to work independently and achieve goals will also be critical. The role will also champion health awareness and issues within Work and Income front-line offices and the region as a whole.
