About us

At the NZ Transport Agency, it all starts with our people. The organisation's performance and success depends on the people who choose to make this a great place to work and make a difference for New Zealand. The Transport Agency has a strong future focus, understanding that new technologies and changing customer expectations mean the transport system we know today will not be the one we deliver in ten years' time.

The focus of the System Design and Delivery group is on designing and delivering an integrated transport system - one that reflects the plans and priorities of the Transport Agency and its partners.

The role

In this role you will work with Agency partners to deliver a total system experience for our customers across the Hawke's Bay and Gisborne Regions. You will lead the planning and delivery of maintenance, operations and small capital projects on state highway network, manage resolution of network and maintenance enquiries for the Hawke's Bay region and attend Regional Road Transport Committee meetings.

The role is busy and varied and you will provide technical advice to our stakeholders and be the local spokesperson for highway management, including media interactions and fronting community engagements.

The role includes working in collaboration with the Gisborne District Council ensuring the Tairawhiti Roads business unit delivers successful outcomes for the local roads and state highways in the region.

Your expertise in relationship management and working collaboratively with customers and stakeholders will be crucial to your success, as will your ability to build and lead your team.

 What you will bring

To be successful in this role you will bring:

  • Strong leadership experience within a large organisation
  • Proven influencing and engagement experience with customers and key stakeholders
  • A strong record of delivering customer focussed outcomes
  • In-depth experience in working across the full delivery lifecycle of work programmes and projects
  • Significant experience working with transport network systems and standards
  • A comprehensive understanding of New Zealand land transport and resource management legislation

Interviews for this role will be held in Napier, which is where the role is based, on the 30th of November 2018. If you are interested we would love to hear from you!
