Exciting role within Fire and Emergency New Zealand, opportunity to utilise your knowledge within a supportive team and make a real difference to the business!

  • Up to 12 months fixed-term
  • Senior advisor
  • Central Wellington location

Fire and Emergency New Zealand is a Crown Entity established on 1 July 2017 under the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Act 2017. The role of our new organisation is to reduce unwanted fires, respond to structural and vegetation fires and other emergencies including motor vehicle crashes, medical emergencies, hazardous substance related incidents, natural disasters and support increased community resilience.

Our new, unified organisation provides a fire and emergency service that delivers for communities, and the firefighters who serve them, now and in the future.

This is an interesting and exciting period of change for the organisation. Part of that is a brand new strategy function. Our strategy function supports the Board, senior leadership team and other managers to ensure an integrated view of strategic direction across the organisation.

This Senior Strategy role will support the Strategy Manager to develop and implement the organisation's strategy, and make it easy for our people to understand our direction, goals and priorities.

Over the next fixed-term period, the priorities for the role will include:

  • developing strategic artefacts to support the development of a new strategic framework
  • coordinating and developing inputs into the organisation's strategy and medium term planning
  • joining up information across the organisation to align with strategic direction (such as long term strategic plans, business planning, investment)
  • championing strategic conversations across the organisation.

You will be:

  • a strong strategic thinker, with knowledge and experience in core components of organisational strategy
  • experienced in developing strategic documents/artefacts at a senior level
  • comfortable operating within a fast paced, senior management change environment
  • collaborative, with high energy and drive.

More information is set out in the position description on our website.

The salary range for this role is $111,580 to $131,270 gross per annum.
