Team Leader – Monitoring and Assessment

Are you passionate about quality tertiary education and assessment practice? Do you want to apply your leadership skills to ensure programmes leading to New Zealand qualifications are credible and robust?

This is a unique opportunity for an innovative Team Leader who excels in developing and implementing systems and processes in a fast-paced environment. As part of our growing Monitoring and Assessment team, you will lead a team of Evaluators and Senior Evaluators and be responsible for:

  • Planning, scheduling and quality assuring team monitoring activities
  • driving the development of new and evolving systems to encourage good practice in programme delivery, assessment and moderation
  • overseeing the management of national external moderation systems
  • establishing and maintaining productive relationships with tertiary education organisations, and a range of internal and external customers
  • procurement of contract monitors and moderators
  • day-to-day management of the team to achieve results.


To be successful in this role you will have in-depth knowledge and skills in the tertiary education sector including programme development and delivery, assessment design, and moderation. You will also have exceptional coaching, communication, relationship management, planning and organising skills. A relevant Bachelor's degree or above is essential.

You may be working for an Industry Training Organisation, ITP, PTE, Wananga, University or Government Training Organisation. Applications are welcome from people in quality assurance, training and development, and academic programme leadership roles.

This role is based in Wellington and will require domestic travel from time to time.
