Job Description

The Government Women's network (GWN) started in 2015 when a group of public sector women came together to support women to achieve to their full potential. Since these early days GWN has emerged as a National organisation with strong representation in Christchurch, Auckland and Wellington. The result is a network designed by women, for women, reaching across government and all around New Zealand. Strong Public Sector Chief Executive support has enabled us to formally establish a number of key positions to support the GWN Governance Group to further develop our comprehensive work programme.

The Programme Director role has recently been formally established as a permanent position to continue this agenda.

The Programme Director - GWN is a leadership position that supports the governance group to make GWN's vision a reality by leading the development, implementation and delivery of the network's programme of work. You'll provide advice to the governance group on any changes required to evolve GWN's day to day operations and capability to ensure it is fully equipped to achieve our vision now and through to 2020.

The Programme Director also leads the coordinator roles that have been established in the 3 main centres to deliver services to and through the women we support.

We are looking for an experienced and engaging senior Public Sector leader who can quickly establish and build on the positive working relationships across the group. You will use your experience of leading complex projects or work programmes to support the governance group and other parts of the network to turn their ideas into action and coordinate different groups to ensure a collective impact. You will also have experience leading and motivating others to deliver common goals. You must be able to demonstrate a commitment to supporting diversity of all types across the sector.

This role will take the lead in managing communications and ensuring the GWN brand and message are strong and clear as well as supporting and advising networks within agencies to achieve successful outcomes for women. You'll need to be a confident and resilient self-starter, able to demonstrate energy, initiative and drive and have a connection with GWN's vision.

Applicants must be eligible to live and work permanently in New Zealand.
