Job Description

The Department is blessed with more than 72,000 recreation, historic and infrastructure assets with a replacement value of over a billion dollars– everything from huts and other buildings, signage and interpretation, tracks and walkways, bridges and structures, to campgrounds and toilets!  Don't miss this opportunity to help DOC manage these great assets.

Our Asset Planners play a critical role in ensuring we have effective management, maintenance and replacement programmes in place for all our various assets.

The primary purpose of the role is to:

Manage the Department's asset information system to provide quality analysis and reports for decision-making.

The ideal applicant will have Asset Planning experience or be skilled at managing computer-based management information systems. They will ideally have knowledge of capital and operational budget management as well as skills and aptitude relating to quality assurance.

This is largely an office-based role, however you will need to visit District offices on a regular basis (Te Anau, Alexandra, Wanaka, Glenorchy, Rakiura). Good communication skills are essential to successfully build quality relationships with staff in the Districts.

If you love managing and analysing data sets, and have an active interest in outdoor recreation, then this may well be the role for you. It will be an advantage if you have a good understanding of facilities used within the recreation / tourism industry and knowledge of construction principles.

Please apply online.  Applications must include a cover letter, CV and evidence of the required capabilities as per the role description.

Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory, including a valid work visa covering the whole period of employment if applying internationally.
