Bring your passion and commitment for the rehabilitation and reintegration of Maori back into the community.

The Maori Services Team is responsible for establishing relationships with Whanau, Hapu and Iwi groups throughout the Southern Region. In this role you will be tasked with looking for opportunities to partner with organisations to reduce re offending while networking with Maori organisations in the Otago and Southland areas. You will also provide cultural leadership and support across the department while working to support the aims and aspirations of the Maori Services Team.

You will join a team which is very much Whanau orientated, open and transparent and who work very collaboratively together and across the department. All of our team have a definite focus on improving the well-being of Maori.

We are looking for a self starter that can lead and role model a commitment to the reduction of re-offending by Maori; working fluidly with and across our internal and external stakeholders. Our ideal person will have existing relationships with Maori Communities, Hapu and Iwi within the Southern Region.  An understanding of rehabilitation and reintegration is essential and experience in the Maori Health & Wellbeing (Whanau Ora) Sector would be an advantage.

You will:

  • Have excellent administration skills
  • Be an outstanding communicator
  • Demonstrate experience in implementing strategic plans successfully
  • Have experience or good understanding of the Public sector environment.

As a person you are open and honest and you enjoy working with people and sharing your knowledge and expertise. You are comfortable working autonomously and are self managing.
