The position of Teaching and Learning Advisor is a key role for the Royal New Zealand Police College.  You will be part of a team of experienced instructional designers, based at the Royal New Zealand Police College, Porirua. 

 

The position has responsibility for ensuring training across the RNZPC and NZ Police enables Our People to deliver on:

  • Our Business.
  • Our Vision to have the Trust and Confidence of all.
  • The Police High Performance Framework. 
  • The purpose of the role required of a Teaching and Learning Advisor is;
    • To design, develop and deliver high quality teaching and learning assets that effectively support the building of Police operational capability.
    • To apply instructional design model(s) consistently to ensure that the ongoing analysis, design, development, and implementation of training products contributes to the RNZPC strategic objective of Excellence in Education.  
    • Participates and contributes to developing communities of practice and innovation in teaching and learning across the Police organisation.
    • To instruct and facilitate the learning and professional development of specific programmes (e.g. the recruit training programme; compliance sector training, etc.) where required.

 

This is a key role enabling staff to deliver Our Business across the New Zealand Police. 

 

You will utilise Agile project management systems and processes as part of your day to day work. 

 

A key aspect of the role is partnering with internal stakeholders within the RNZPC and NZ Police and to support specific behavioural change.  This will involve managing expectations and delivering to sometimes challenging timelines.

Skills Required:

  • Creative and self-motivated, easy to work with and able to satisfy stakeholders and business owners.
  • Skills developing training products for adult learners.
  • Skills developing material for delivery in the online and blended learning environment is preferred. 
  • Demonstrated experience in desktop publishing.
  • Desirable skills include; the use of educational technologies including rapid authoring software such as Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline and Adobe Creative Suite and using digital media including video and audio within course design

 

 

Experience Required:

  • Experience in Agile systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in applying adult learning principles to training design (preferably in an organisational context).
  • Experience in technical writing and editing.
  • Experience in the design of learning and assessment material

 

Education Requirement:

  • A formal qualification at diploma or degree level, preferably in education or training design or at least 3 years' equivalent experience in a teaching, learning development, coaching or mentoring role.
