Job Description

We are looking for a Senior Adviser with great people and process skills to join our fast paced and busy team.  In this role you'll work across the Ministry to manage responses to Official Information Act requests, Ministerial correspondence, and Parliamentary Questions, as well as twice yearly support for Select Committee processes, covering all aspects of the Ministry's foreign, trade and development work. As a Senior Adviser you will also coach and mentor other members of the team, and help build capability in other Ministry business units.

You'll thrive in this role if you can demonstrate your experience:

  • Quickly and confidently developing effective relationships with subject matter experts at all levels of an organisation.
  • Working effectively and collaboratively in a team when under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Managing multiple tasks in an organised fashion, across a wide range of subject areas and adjusting priorities as needed, at times with minimal supervision.
  • Providing high quality technical advice and assistance to meet statutory obligations.
  • Working in a ministerial services-type function, including a sound working knowledge of the Official Information Act.
  • Exercising sound judgement with the ability to detect and manage risk appropriately.
