About Corrections

The Department of Corrections works to keep communities safe and change lives. Today we employ around 10,000 people located in over 151 sites and 18 prisons across the country.

 

Our Team

Over recent years, we have gained significant strength and expertise in managing some of the government's largest and most complex contracts. This innovative and dynamic team are responsible for procuring the Department's largest and most sensitive contracts, including outsourced prisons, electronic monitoring, electronic security, Public Private Partnerships, IT service delivery, asset and facilities management and prisoner transport.

 

The Role

As a Procurement Specialist, you will work with Senior Procurement Specialists to provide procurement strategy, sourcing, negotiation and contraction management services for the Department's major contracts. These contracts are worth in excess of $3 billion so the work is varied and diverse. We have two roles available for experienced and energetic procurement professionals. These roles present an exciting opportunity to work on unique and significant procurement projects, with complexities that are seldom seen in other organisations.

 

Skills and Experience

We're looking for someone who has: 

  • Proven experience in procurement and government tendering
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to think laterally
  • Exceptional negotiation and influencing skills
  • The ability to deliver results and tangible outcomes on significant projects
  • Sound time management skills and can manage competing priorities
  • Strong relationship skills as loves working in a team environment

 

Ideally, you will also be CIPS qualified or studying towards this.

 

The salary range (85% - 120%) for this role is $ 82,160 to $115,990 with $96,658 at 100% of the range. Appointment will be based on skills and experience relevant to the role. If you want to expand your strategic procurement expertise and experience, apply today.
