  • Do you enjoy working collaboratively with others across government to embed good assurance practice?
  • Do you have a passion for lifting assurance capability to deliver improved delivery confidence in digital investment outcomes?
  • Do you want to contribute to the efficient and effective operation of a high performing team?

Since 1840, the Department of Internal Affairs has been serving and connecting people, communities and government to build a safe, prosperous and respected nation.

The System Assurance team provides Ministers, the Government Chief Digital Officer (GCDO), and other key stakeholders with confidence that the system of assurance supporting digital government outcomes is effective.  We are looking to change assurance thinking from a compliance activity to one that is risk and outcomes-based.

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Advisor to lead the development and maintenance of our All-of-Government frameworks, guidance and other supporting documentation (e.g. thought leadership and lessons learned).

You will be confident in your ability to build trusted relationships across a variety of internal and external stakeholders.  You will utilise your critical analysis skills and practical experience to think outside of the box, breaking down complex issues into understandable pieces, and delivering assurance guidance that can be easily applied by our diverse stakeholders.  Your passion for continuous improvement will ensure that the suite of frameworks, guidance and other documentation remain relevant and support the team in taking a thought leadership role.

We are looking for someone who brings with them:

  • Experience of working within an Enterprise Portfolio Management Office and/or in the delivery of ICT-enabled projects or programmes.
  • Experience in developing, maintaining and improving frameworks and guidance.
  • Knowledge of governance, risk and assurance good practices.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships at different levels within an organisation.
  • Highly developed critical analysis skills able to break down complex issues into understandable pieces, identify hidden issues, probe possible solutions and connect smaller issues together to help understand the big picture.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Delivery focus and attention to detail.
  • Expert knowledge PowerPoint and Visio.
  • Able to self-manage workload with minimal supervision within specific assignments.

If you have a passion for assurance and want to make a real difference for New Zealanders we would love to hear from you!  We encourage candidates from central and local government who wish to join DIA on a secondment basis.
