Job Description

Principal ADVISOR - Growth and Public services directorate

Be an important strategic and thought leader in supporting the drive to an inclusive, sustainable and low-emissions economy.

The Treasury is the New Zealand Government's lead economic, financial and regulatory advisor. Our vision is to be a world leading Treasury working towards higher living standards for New Zealanders. We want to continue to build our reputation for innovation and cutting-edge policy advice and have an opportunity for a talented thought leader to join the Treasury to support the Director: Growth and Public Services.

This Principal Advisor role will sit across a number of teams with responsibilities as broad, but as inter-connected as the Government's economic strategy, future of work, climate change and industry and regional policy.

The Treasury takes a long-term and systems view of economic performance and its links to wider government objectives.

As Principal Advisor you will play an important role in developing and providing integrated advice to the Government on key economic and cross-cutting issues. You will engage externally and build relationships with other Government agencies across the economic, natural resources and environment sector.

You will work with the GPS management team to help shape the Directorate's work programme and priorities, and support the use of Treasury's Living Standards Framework to support the improvement in inter-generational wellbeing. You will be a proven leader who can deliver through others and inspire and support our people to perform at their highest level.

You will be intellectually curious, an effective influencer and a respected policy professional with experience working on complex policy problems. Principal Advisors are expected to operate across the Treasury and to test existing thinking through constructive debate.

The Treasury values diversity and inclusion and encourages a positive work/non-work balance with flexible work arrangements.

Applications close - 24 January 2019. All applications must be made online.
