The Fiscal Reporting team within the Office of the Government Accountant has an opportunity for two experienced and talented Accountants to join its dynamic and high performing team.   We are looking for one Government Reporting Accountant and one Senior Government Reporting Accountant.  We would also consider inter-agency secondments for these positions.  These roles present a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of public sector financial accounting, in our team the numbers are big and the range of issues even bigger!

In this role, you will:

  • Be responsible for the production of some of our biggest publications (e.g. financial statements of the government)
  • Use your excellent communication skills to effectively communicate financial results in plain English
  • Provide advice on complex accounting policy issues

In addition, as a Senior Government Reporting Accountant you will:

  • Provide people leadership by means of coaching and reviewing the work of others
  • Contribute towards the strategic direction of the team
  • Manage key stakeholder relationships both within the Treasury and with external agencies

To be considered for these roles you will bring:

  • Extensive experience in financial accounting (experience at consolidation accounting is a bonus)
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative style with the ability to work well in a team environment
  • A Chartered Accountancy qualification with a number of years' experience
  • Strong people leadership and relationship management skills (particularly for the senior position)
  • A focus on continuous improvement and personal development
  • Public sector experience (this is helpful but not essential)
