Senior Advisors/Advisors to design our future

Purpose of the role

We re looking for people with strong policy skills who want to help maximise the opportunities and benefits from new and emerging uses of data across government.

As a senior advisor or advisor in our policy teams you ll bring your existing policy knowledge and experience to help shape our work. You ll be part of a committed and flexible team, operating in an exciting and emerging area, covering everything from governance settings to emerging technologies, like artificial intelligence.  It s a new frontier; you bring the policy expertise and we ll bring data.

Person specifications  

We need policy thinkers, leaders and  innovators to join our System Policy, and Legislative Policy teams. There are up to four fixed, permanent, and secondment opportunities available.

To be successful in these roles, you ll have:

  • solid policy expertise
  • already been operating at a high level with experience in policy or legislative development within the New Zealand government
  • proven yourself a team player, who is happy to adapt and enjoys finding their own path
  • a tertiary qualification in a field appropriate to the role.

You ll also have:

  • knowledge of machinery of government
  • an awareness of economic, social and governmental influences, the political environment, and other agencies and groups likely to influence our work.
