The focus of the System Design and Delivery group is on designing and delivering an integrated transport system - one that reflects the plans and priorities of the Transport Agency and its partners.

The role:

This role will lead the delivery of the forward work plan for all assigned projects to contributes to the Transport Agency's business plan of delivering great journeys to keep New Zealand moving.

We're looking for a people leader who has experience in leading and managed technical/project delivery teams. Ideally, you'd have a technical background yourself as well as project and programme management experience. You will have experience in contract management and procurement methods to enable you to ensure your team are demonstrating best practice project management approaches. You will use your strong communication and influencing skills to work with key stakeholders and lead your team of technical and project management professionals.

What you will bring:

  • Proven experience managing and leading technical teams within the construction industry
  • Extensive experience in project/programme management
  • Strong financial and risk management
  • Experience with advanced procurement models
  • Previous experience managing contracts, ideally within the road transport area
  • An exceptional ability to analyze complex engineering problems and provide solutions
  • Broad experience in road construction works and an in-depth knowledge of the processes involved in planning, designing and building is desirable
  • An engineering qualification and project management experience within the road/engineering sector is desirable
  • A Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng or equivalent) and a professional member of Engineering NZ is desirable
