Job Description

Advisor Data and Information Management  

Work across the business to improve data management and support data reuse.  

  • Build your data management skillset
  • Fixed term position for one year (parental leave)
  • Will consider part time or full time appointment

The purpose of the role

We are looking for someone to help us improve data and information management practices at Stats NZ. You will be working with statistical, data and analytic staff across the business,  with a focus on improving the capture of metadata about our statistical data collections.

Key to the success of this role is the ability to:

  • Engage with staff to understand problems and apply your knowledge in real work settings
  • Flexible and open to learning on the job.
  • Develop sensible solutions based on your application of general principles, policies and guidance.
  • Collaborate with other specialists in various areas of the organisation.
  • Knowledge of data management and statistical production processes would be an significant advantage.  

Person specifications

The successful candidate will bring the following skills and expertise to the team:  

  • A drive for good data and information management practice  
  • Sound judgement the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Developing and managing relationships engaging across the organisation and beyond
  • The ability to plan and prioritise with the flexibility to shift focus when required
  • Mentoring and guiding others   

Technical competencies   

  • Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
  • Sound computer and software skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent customer engagement skills.

We re also offering a remuneration for this role between $59,533 and $80,545, depending on the skills and experience you bring to the role.
