Job Description

What you will do
We value our security officers and the work they do; if security is your passion we would love for you to join us.

  • A rotating roster including four days on & four days off;
  • 25% salary loading payment;
  • Stable permanent employment.

We really can't talk enough about how incredible our security officers are, or say enough about the valuable contribution they make as part of a wider security team protecting New Zealand's interests.

What we need
An individual with prior security experience preferably in operational security, someone used to shift work and who has a good work ethic combined with life skills. A good degree of physical fitness is required and technology plays a big part in what we do so it's important that you are comfortable using computers and are familiar with the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
You will be joining a supportive and professional team of dedicated security officers who between them look after multiple NZDF sites in the Auckland region, via a rotating roster (including night shifts)  24/7, 365 days a year.
Who we are
The Directorate of Defence Security (DDS) comprises eight functional business units: counter intelligence, security compliance (including Defence Industry), security risk and assurance, security vetting and screening, security policy, security services, security education and training and the security guard force.
Each functional unit contributes a vital role to strengthen the NZDF's ability to secure its information, people, assets and reputation.  DDS provides a sustainable and credible security organisation primarily focused on NZDF's domestic security environment through the provision of a wide range of protective security policies, services, products and advice.
Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.  As a modern, professional military, it is our goal to maintain well trained, equipped and disciplined armed forces that can react to crisis at short notice.
Why Us

What's in it for you if you join us as a Security Officer? Ongoing training so you will always have the right skills and qualifications for the job, an additional 25% loading on top of your annual salary in recognition of shift work, some great NZDF benefits which also extend to and care for your family, access to a top class on site gym (free!) plus other base facilities, stable permanent employment and even the opportunity to be at the forefront of security technology.
Check out the great benefits for you and your family when you join NZDF!
