The opportunity:
Our Ruby on Rails development team at the Ministry of Social Development requires an additional full stack web developer. They are a small team who develop, maintain and manage a range of applications that support many business units and processes across the Ministry. 

We use Ruby on Rails but we are open to considering people with experience in other technologies who want to learn Rails. Whatever background you come from you'll join a friendly team of experienced developers, business analysts and testers.


About you:
If you have a strong background in software development then this could be the role you've been looking for. The successful person will most likely be an experienced Ruby on Rails developer with several years experience and a proven track record of delivering high quality code, or an experienced web developer who wants to make the switch to Ruby on Rails.

We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:


  • Experience developing web applications in Ruby on Rails or another framework.
  • Expertise using JavaScript, jQuery, Bootstrap and CSS.
  • Sound relational database knowledge and experience, preferably with Oracle.
  • Knowledge of Web accessibility and usability standards and experience in the application of these.
  • Good written and verbal skills; ability to articulate ideas and problem solve.
  • Able to work independently and/or as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management.
  • Excellent people skills.
