The Department of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health offers a range of programmes from entry level through to master's degrees for those working in or seeking careers in the wider health and wellbeing sectors. These include certificate level programmes in pre health and health and wellbeing, the New Zealand Diploma in Enrolled Nursing, bachelor's degrees in nursing, midwifery, social work, medical imaging, osteopathy and applied sciences, graduate certificate and diploma programmes and post graduate certificates, diplomas and master's degrees in health science and nursing.


The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our academic team based at the Timaru campus. The role will suit someone with a social work, mental health, disability or social services background as it predominantly involves working with students completing the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing. Teaching will include theory courses and undertaking placement visits. There will be opportunities to teach into other programmes delivered in South Canterbury depending on the background and experience of the successful applicant



  • Working with students completing the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing.
  • Teaching ,including theory courses & undertaking placement visits



  • A minimum of three years full time experience as a practitioner or case worker
  • Professional & educational qualifications and skills that support teaching of health & wellbeing
  • An effective communicator able to work collaboratively
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to organise & co-ordinate activities
