About the team

Our team, Domestic Climate Change, is responsible for developing and delivering policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture and forestry, New Zealand's largest source and sink of emissions respectively.

This is a fascinating, fast-paced and high-profile area to be working in. One that is a priority for governments all over the world, particularly ours.

We are a warm and collaborative team, who work hard to achieve the best outcomes for New Zealand.

About the role

We need an experienced principal adviser who is skilled in navigating complex issues, leading policy development and engaging with a range of stakeholders. To be successful in this role you need:

  • strong analytical ability and a capacity to quickly identify and clearly express core elements of an issue or proposal
  • the ability to take an idea, shape it into a project or proposal and drive delivery
  • the ability to influence and persuade, using a variety of techniques
  • strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively engage with a wide range of people
  • a passion for coaching and developing staff.

If you like to be busy, have good judgement, show initiative and come from a strategy, policy or similar background we want to hear from you. A knowledge of climate change, economics and legislative/regulatory processes would be an advantage.
