Our belief is that in the right environment, with the right people surrounding and nurturing them, any child can and should flourish. The journey to achieve Oranga Tamariki starts here and now. Guarding the wellbeing of our children is a huge and exciting challenge - one that every New Zealander has a hand in. Will you join us?

Oranga Tamariki — Ministry for Children is transforming both our workplace and the way we practice Social Work. We're looking at new ways to do things, with our one goal in mind – Protecting the tamariki of New Zealand. Is this your goal too?

Join our Lower Hutt or Upper Hutt team - sites with a big heart and a passion for getting things right for its children, young people and community. You can be part of a positive and supportive team and help children and young people be safe, strong and thrive. The Hutt Valley is only a 15 minute drive or train ride from Wellington, and is home to adventurous activities, a rich cultural heritage and beautiful scenery.

Applicants will need to be able to work with a range of Iwi in the area, and also be able to represent Oranga Tamariki, and ensure that legislated processes are complied with, when on Marae and other community based venues.

We can offer you:

     • a salary between $50,000 and $91,606 (commensurate with skills and experience)

     • a challenging, fascinating and rewarding career

     • on-going training and regular supervision

     • commitment to the highest standards of strengths-based social work.

In return, you must have a Social Work Qualification recognised by the New Zealand Social Work Registration Board (SWRB) or full registration with SWRB and a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) and full clean valid driver's licence.

Please apply online with your CV and cover letter. Only online applications will be accepted.  Your cover letter is an important part of our shortlisting process. Please outline why you want to be a Social Worker and how your skills and experience relate to the key accountabilities of the role.
