MINISTERIAL ADVISOR - OFFICE OF RT HON WINSTON PETERS

Rt Hon Winston Peters, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Disarmament and Arms Control, State Owned Enterprises and Racing is looking for a Ministerial Advisor.  Providing high level policy advice directly to the Minister across a range of portfolio responsibilities, this is a challenging and rewarding role, giving you an insight into the workings of the Executive Government of today.

All applicants must have an excellent understanding of existing government and public service protocols and processes.  The nature of the role requires knowledge of political processes, political risk and the ability to contribute to policy proposals and submissions. Experience in responding to Official Information Act requests, parliamentary questions, drafting correspondence and briefings would be advantageous. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail are essential.

Applicants must demonstrate a proven ability to effectively interpret a wide range of information and resolve complex issues under pressure. This role interacts with a variety of people, organisations and sectors so the right applicant will have the ability to quickly establish and maintain excellent working relationships.

A requirement of this role is that you are able to hold a security clearance.  There are certain criteria that must be met in this regard.
