Senior HR Advisor

Permanent, full-time position

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior HR Adviosr to take charge in an environment that is currently being transformed. This is a chance to be apart of a game changing phase in the tertiary education sector.

Our immediate team is a great social bunch, that work across our regional Wellington campusus largely Petone and Porirua. None of us like the Wellington commute, so love that we are based in Petone or Porirua.

About the role

The Senior HR Advisor role is responsible for delivering high quality advice and support to managers and staff. Reporting to the People Services Manager in Wellington, you will work collaboratively with the wider People Services team.

We are currently engaged in various initiatives to align the systems and practices of WelTec and Whitireia. In this role there will be opportunity for you to gain exposure to multiple aspects of HR and organisation wide initiatives. This role is a great way to grow your career.

This role's primary location is the Porirua campus. However, you will be required to work at other campuses and locations across the Wellington region from time to time.

About you

We need someone in this role who has a strong generalist background, a positive attitude and plenty of initiative. With your general business acumen and problem solving skills your advice will be solutions focused.

To be successful in this position you will have the following:

  • Experience in an HR Advisor role (ideally a minimum of five years) with sound working knowledge of HR practices and New Zealand employment legislation
  • Working knowledge of remuneration and promotion practices. You will need strong excel skills as this role will take a lead role in the annual remuneration reviews and promotions process
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to relate to a wide variety of people at all levels of an organisation
  • A self-starter attitude with the ability to manage multiple priorities and be adaptable in a changing environment
  • A flexible and adaptable working style, a positive attitude and willingness to work individually and a team player working with others on key projects
  • A tertiary qualification/ experience in human resources and experience in the tertiary education sector are preferred but not essential
  • Change management experience is essential
