Job Description

The State Services Commission (SSC) leads the public sector to make a positive difference for New Zealand and New Zealanders.

As an Assistant Commissioner, your work will be full of variety.  You will lead major cross-system work programmes, sponsor projects, manage issues, advise Ministers and help recruit chief executives and other senior leaders.  You will often be out of the office, out and about making things happen. You will be a seasoned professional – someone who is confident, a straight-shooter, empathetic and principled but also pragmatic.

You will enjoy working with others to get results and you will be able to confidently navigate complex issues in a world where the answers are not always straightforward or clear.  Your time with our organisation will give you a unique perspective on the State services and help equip you for top leadership roles.
