We are looking for a Project Co-ordinator to join Biosecurity New Zealand within the Response Capability and Capacity team.  This is a unique role for someone who can work within a team with responsibility for managing Biosecurity New Zealand's future readiness, response and long term management capacity and capability.

This is a fixed term position until December 2019.


About the role:

  • Your role will be to provide monitoring, coordination, communication, and administration for a significant project within the business.
  • You will bring confidence and ability to gather organise and communicate information which will allow you to work with credibility with stakeholders both within and external to Biosecurity New Zealand.
  • You will become an integral operational go to person in the project team.
  • You will be highly productive, highly driven, an excellent communicator and have the ability to meet deadlines.


Key Skills / Educational Requirements

Bring your experience in Project or Programme Coordination' along with your ability to get stuff done and your enjoyment of working in busy environment where no two days are the same. 

 You must have the following:

  • Proven experience as a Project and/or Programme Coordinator
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills including proven ability to adapt quickly to meet audience needs.
  • Knowledge of administration and business support systems and processes
  • Experience in communicating with external service providers and suppliers
  • Experience in gathering, organising and communicating information. This includes being able to quickly understand the nature of problems, identify a range of possible solutions (including their implications) and form conclusions.


About the Organisation:

The Readiness & Response Services Directorate within the Operations Branch brings together critical capability to effectively prepare for and manage responses, and to co-ordinate recovery and long term management activities, working across biosecurity, food, primary production and trade systems.


About the Branch and the Team: 

The Operations branch has a critical role in preventing harmful organisms crossing New Zealand's borders. It manages border and compliance activities as well as preparing for, and responding to, any biosecurity incursions that may occur.

The branch also manages MPI's centralised intelligence, planning and co-ordination group which was established to manage food, biosecurity and animal welfare responses consistently and effectively.
