Job Description

  • Do you have proven experience working in agile software development?
  • Would you like to be involved in the establishment of an innovative technology solution?
  • We're looking for an outstanding engineer to help us automate everything. You'll be getting intimate with the latest and greatest tool chain and AWS technologies.

About LINZ

At Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), our key role is to ensure New Zealanders have accurate information about where people and places are, that people have confidence in their property rights and that Crown property is well managed for future generations.

From the best way to develop farm land, build a new suburb, manage a high country farm or navigate on land or at sea, our work and location information help people make better decisions and create economic, social, environmental and cultural value for New Zealand.

About the Role

LINZ has initiated a long term programme to modernising New Zealand's Land Information Platform & Services. To achieve this, we have designed a comprehensive work programme to modernise and future-proof Landonline through an incremental rebuild to provide a reliable, available and secure platform.

We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer with a good understanding of modern Agile development to work on deployment pipeline creation and enhancement targeting AWS deployment with a focus on continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD).

This role will be involved in different tranches of the design, creation, testing and maintenance of the revamped system and you will be developing (ie. coding), configuring, testing and implementing software solutions in an Agile/scrum environment. As a member of the Agile squad, the backlog will be determined by the product management team, with a product owner working closely with your squad.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven analytical and commercial experience in development;
  • Excellent coding and digital development skills;
  • A relevant computing qualification/degree;
  • Operational knowledge of agile project and development tools;
  • Proven experience working in a development environment to design and build continuous integration & deployment capability.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a small team and on an ambitious programme to make a genuine difference across LINZ. This fantastic role will allow you to be involved in challenging and politically visible work that impacts positively on New Zealand's future.
