Our team

We are looking for determined people who are passionate about making Stats NZ being the best organisation it can be to join Organisation Strategy and Performance (OSP). OSP is a small team that works across the organisation to lead strategic and business planning, performance measurement and reporting, the implementation of the organisation s risk framework and our approach to protecting people s privacy.

We are looking for people:

  • with an ability to join the dots and apply judgement and real-world knowledge to support decisions and practices
  • with a passion to learn, challenge the status quo and an open mind to explore different ways of solving new and old problems
  • who focus on making their messages relevant and clear and proactively share their knowledge
  • who are people-focused and relationship-based when it comes to driving change
  • with a team ethos which includes a willingness to support your colleagues daily, to know when knuckle down and when to smell the roses, to do the must do as well as the exciting jobs, to see gaps that need filling and take the initiatives to fill them
  • an understanding of Te Ao Māori and Te Reo Māori is also advantageous. 

Your role

As Senior Advisor Planning and Performance, you will have the challenge of implementing our performance framework, leading our corporate planning activities and ensuring that Stats is using performance metrics to inform evidence-based decisions.

You will work closely with our Executive team and senior leaders, with our finance, people & culture, enterprise portfolio office teams and the Chief Exec s office. You will also take a lead relationship management role for the team within Stats and externally with relevant professional networks.

We are looking for someone with:

  • a passion for measuring value, evidence-based decision making, joined-up prioritisation across the organisation and for supporting Stats NZ as it navigates the emerging and evolving data environment
  • thorough understanding of the concepts and principals of planning and performance reporting and significant experience of shaping and managing their implementation
  • experience of coaching other team members
  • experience of implementing the PUMP approach is preferable.
