Play a lead role in shaping the economic policy agenda.

The Treasury is the New Zealand Government's lead economic and financial advisor. Our vision is to be a world-leading Treasury working towards higher living standards for New Zealanders. We have opportunities for talented and high achieving Analysts or Senior Analysts to join the Economic Strategy and Productivity team.

In the Economic Strategy and Productivity team, we partner with other agencies to provide high quality advice to Government centered on building a productive, sustainable and inclusive economy. We support each other as a team, share knowledge and work together to advise Ministers to achieve these outcomes.

We have opportunities related to:

  • Advising Ministers on policy settings to improve New Zealand's economic performance and living standards
  • Developing analysis of New Zealand's productivity performance
  • Interfacing with international organisations such as the OECD


This role would suit those with expertise in economics, statistics, project management and public policy.  If you have been successful working in critical and complex policy areas, and you understand how to use your strong communication, influencing and analytical skills to get traction on complex policy problems, then we would like to hear from you.

For an appointment at the senior analyst level, you will already have a significant breadth and depth of analytical experience. A senior analyst role provides the opportunity to lead others and further develop your leadership skills.

Analyst: $78,000 - $91,000
