Salary: $81,440 to $122,160

About Crown Law

Crown Law provides legal advice and representation to the Government of New Zealand in the areas of criminal, public and administrative law. As the kaitiaki of the rule of law, we support the Solicitor-General and Attorney-General to determine the Crown's view of the law. We also provide leadership for the networks of Crown Solicitors, public prosecuting agencies and in-house Government lawyers.

About the role

As a Legal Support Manager, you will be responsible for leading your team to provide personal administrative support to legal counsel. We use a business partnering approach, with the purpose of creating tailored, customer-centric services to ensure the smooth running of the Crown Law Office. You will be coming into an organisation that is re-setting how it provides legal support services away from transactional service delivery to a business partnering approach. You will lead the delivery of a service model that provides consistently great service and meets a range of support requirements.

You will work closely with the other Legal Support Manager to develop capability across the legal administration cohort and to ensure capacity demands and workflow is managed effectively. You will also build strong relationships with Counsel, Strategy and Corporate staff and the Litigation Enablement Manager to ensure the delivery of end-to-end support services for legal counsel and litigation matters.

The Legal Support Manager is a member of the Operational Services Leadership team.

About you

The ideal appointee will have the following skills, qualities and experience:

  • A proven people leader in an operational environment, particularly in a business support environment
  • Experience designing and/or implementing improvement initiatives
  • Strong relationship management skills, particularly working with business stakeholders
  • A proven communicator with strong written and oral language skills
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant business discipline is desirable, or the equivalent professional experience
