Job Description

What you will do
 
This is an exciting, fresh new role in our Environmental Services team. You'll develop and establish our new contamination management programme to identify and manage environmental and built infrastructure risk; in relation to contamination both on and off the Defence Estate. You will also:
  • Create programme information systems 
  • Lead and coordinate investigations
  • Gather and manage information
  • Provide technical input, oversight, advice and planning 
  • Regular travel to NZDF's 9 camps and bases across New Zealand
This is a unique opportunity to take on an interesting and challenging senior level role at the forefront of NZDF's and infrastructure development and maintenance.  
 
What we need
 
We're looking for a positive and collaborative team player with real world understanding and experience in construction, infrastructure, environmental services and/ maintenance.  You will be a motivated and proactive big picture thinker with the following:
  • Outstanding stakeholder management and communication skills
  • An effective and confident leader
  • Strong understanding of NZ environmental legislation and issues
  • In depth knowledge of investigation and management of contamination in soil, water and structures
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in science, engineering, IT or Information Management

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Low level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
