Job Description

Senior Advisor - Psychological Wellbeing Workshops

Wellington based preferred (flexible), frequent travel required.

Fixed-term to June 2020, full-time (but could accommodate two part-time people).

Established work plan - Priority and high profile organisation-wide project - Travel throughout New Zealand two or three days per week and some weekend work required.

We need an experienced Advisor to join our team to lead delivery of psychological wellbeing workshops in the Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHW) programme. This established programme of workshops is now part of a Statement of Performance Expectation (SPE) and the Senior Advisor will be responsible for planning and delivering workshops throughout the country to meet the SPE target.

You will need the sensitivity to navigate an organisation undergoing significant change. With 14,000 personnel, most who work in high risk environments, safety health and wellbeing is fundamental to the successful operation of the organisation.

You will have a sound background understanding in workplace psychological wellbeing support and significant experience in presenting specialist subject matter and facilitation to a wide range of audiences. You will be a well-organised, 'can do' person, who is adept in building rapport with workshop participants and fostering a respectful and collaborative environment. You will have the experience and maturity to remain unsurprised by whatever feedback, concerns or questions arise during the workshops, and the ability to ensure everyone feels valued for their contribution to the discussions.

You will report to the Safety, Health and Wellbeing Lead and work closely with the SHW Project Coordinator to coordinate and plan workshops, and with SHW Regional Advisors as co-presenters (when available). It is expected you will deliver teo to four workshops per week, with some weekend work required and appropriate time in lieu following this.

This role requires the following:

  • Planning and delivering psychological wellbeing workshops to leaders by position and leaders by influence throughout Fire and Emergency - including employed and volunteer leaders
  • Ensuring that workshops are delivered consistently, are of high quality, are flexible to local needs, and utilise local expertise.
  • Working in collaboration with personnel across Fire and Emergency to meet the SPE target
  • Someone who is energetic, practical, adaptable and people-focused

The remuneration range is up to $109,000pa commensurate with experience and skills.

Secondments from within Fire and Emergency or another emergency sector agency will be considered.
