The Department of Corrections has an incredibly diverse asset portfolio of $2.8b across NZ and is undertaking significant investment in addressing capacity and enabling new ways of working to achieve its strategic objectives of keeping communities safe and changing lives.

Building and further developing the Department's Asset Management capability will integrate long term planning, investment, asset maintenance and project delivery. 

As a result of this transformation to strengthen our strategic Asset Management and delivery capability, a large number of new roles and teams have been created.

As the Business Writer, you will plan and develop authorisation collateral and investment case material in line with the Treasury Better Business Case framework. You will then champion this through the business, so that timely approval and funding is received for planned and reactive projects. This includes but certainly isn't limited to:

  • Writing high quality and informed idea briefs and investment cases
  • Analysis including benefits realisation, financial analysis , risks and options analysis
  • Collaboration with key stakeholders and team members

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:

  • Expert writing skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues in pragmatic and user friendly documents
  • Proven success in high quality business case development including the measurement of project benefits and the application of the NZ Treasury Better Business Case framework
  • Proven experience in successfully navigating and obtaining approvals in a complex authorising environment
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced analytical skills
  • An understanding of property and construction / capital projects

The salary range for this role is $96,557 to $136,316 Appointment will be based on skills and experience relevant to the role.
