Job Description

Technical Lead

Fixed-term position

April 2019 - November 2020

Our Purpose

When you work with the Canterbury District Health Board, you're part of something very special. We plan, fund and deliver health services to the almost 600,000 New Zealanders that live in the Canterbury region. Our primary goal is to put people at the heart of everything we do.

The Team

The Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) team is a specialist ICT department within Canterbury Health Laboratories (CHL). CHL is the leading medical diagnostic reference laboratory in New Zealand and the LIS team plays an essential role in supporting the Laboratory Information Systems (LIMs) required by the laboratory.

The LIS team provides these services to Canterbury District Health Board and a number of public sector laboratories across the country requiring team members to work closely together and liaise with both internal and external clients.

The Role

CHL has a programme of significant strategic projects across many aspects of the Laboratory Information System. This role will ensure a level of service excellence and reliability across these solutions and projects. The successful candidate will be an active member of the CHL LIS team working with the project team(s) on technical change, highlighting technical requirements and challenges.

Key tasks will include responsibility for providing and supporting evaluation and documentation of systems technical solutions to enable project implementation and operational support. Applicants should have experience in IT infrastructure and networking operations and system administration and programming. Being a 'jack of all trades' ideally with experience across the spectrum of Unix tooling, Linux, Python, .Net would be an advantage.

A tertiary or industry level qualification in Business, Science, Information Services, Engineering, Laboratory or related field is preferable.
