The Department of Corrections has an incredibly diverse asset portfolio of $2.8b across NZ and is undertaking significant investment in addressing capacity and enabling new ways of working to achieve its strategic objectives of keeping communities safe and changing lives.

Building and further developing the Department's Asset Management capability will integrate long term planning, investment, asset maintenance and project delivery. As a result of this transformation to strengthen our strategic Asset Management and delivery capability, a large number of new roles and teams have been created.

The Portfolio Coordinator ensures that portfolio and programme management processes and controls are seamlessly defined, implemented and actioned in this complex and capital intensive environment. You will support the Portfolio Manager in all areas of portfolio management – a great opportunity to grow your already sound expertise. This challenging role requires you to work across this large delivery team; gaining insights into the delivery of complex projects and developing you own your commercial skills and judgement. You'll thrive in this role by fostering positive working relationships across the business.

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience 

  • Proven success as a Portfolio, Programme or Project Administrator or Coordinator
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writte
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • IT savvy and proficient with the Microsoft suite Word, Excel and Project
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Thrive in a busy team
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Familiar with project management methodologies or a project management accreditation is also highly desirable.

The salary range for this role is $66,411 to $93,756. Appointment will be based on skills and experience relevant to the role.
