At Land Information New Zealand (LINZ) we are focusing on the future and modernising of our technology and the services we provide to remain connected, innovative and flexible.

New Zealand currently ranks number one in the World Bank Doing Business rankings for registering property, but we want to be bolder. We are on a mission to help New Zealand retain and enhance it's world class property system and to meet the needs of the 21st century. We have initiated a long term programme to rebuild Landonline, the system used to manage New Zealand's land information, and we are looking for people to join the team and make a valuable contribution to a programme of work that will have a positive impact across New Zealand. 

We are currently redeveloping Landonline which is crucial to supporting the New Zealand way of life. There's no other way to buy land or a house in New Zealand, and it provides important information to be able to respond to emergencies, natural disasters and biosecurity concerns. We are looking for people who are keen to share their knowledge in a diverse, collaborative team environment.

The Business Rules Specialist will be making a valuable contribution to this programme, and across LINZ, by working with key stakeholder to refine and enhance our business rules framework.    You will be collaborating with others to gather rule related intelligence so you can analyse this information and recommend solutions to ensure our business rules meet LINZ's current and future needs. You will be working within an agile environment so you will need to have a collaborative and flexible approach to the way that you work and have the drive to deliver results.

Some of the key areas of focus will be:

  • Refining and enhancing the LINZ business rules frameworks to ensure they are effective
  • Effectively planning the work and resources required for the implementation of Business Rule designs
  • Consulting with key stakeholders and gather information through a rage of different media
  • Analysing information and recommending solutions for current and future Business Rules
  • Ensuring the Business Rules are effectively meeting organisational needs and that they readily available via a Business Rules repository
  • Identifying, mitigating or escalating issues and technical risks as appropriate
  • Champion the Business Rules direction, standards and methodologies across LINZ


The key skills and experience we are seeking are:

  • Experience with the capture, analysis, interpretation  and documentation of information
  • Knowledge of appropriate business rule analysis and authoring methodologies
  • Sound knowledge of the theory and practice of data models
  • A legal qualification or experience in policy interpretation and business rules analysis
