At the Office of Māori Crown Relations – Te Arawhiti, there is an opportunity for you to be a part of New Zealand's future – one that's watched by the rest of the world.

We are looking for hard-working, talented and motivated people to join our team -Te Kāhui Hīkina.  We are responsible for improving the health of the Māori Crown relationship.

Our workstreams include:

  • supporting public sector engagement with Māori,
  • identifying opportunities for the Crown to partner with Māori,
  • developing the capacity of the public sector to work with Māori,
  • advising and monitoring contemporary Māori issues, and
  • monitoring the indicators on the health of the Māori Crown relationship.

You will have a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.  You will have well developed relationship skills and be able to work with a wide range of people including Ministers, Crown agencies, and Māori. You will demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.

An awareness of te reo Māori, tikanga Māori and Te Ao Māori are necessary. 

A background in the public service and an understanding of the machinery of government would be helpful.

Salary range:  $61,744 - $87,167

  • te tautoko i te whakapāpātanga a te rāngai tūmatanui ki a ngāi Māori,
  • te tautuhi huarahi e haere kōtui ai te Karauna me ngāi Māori,
  • te whakapakari ake i te āheinga o te rāngai tūmatanui ki te mahi ngātahi ki a ngāi Māori,
  • te ārahi me te aroturuki i ngā take Māori o te wā, me
  • te aroturuki i ngā waitohu e pā ana ki te hauora o te hononga a ngāi Māori me te Karauna.

Me he pai ki a koe te mahi ā-kāhui ki te kawe ake i te mānuka whakarerekē i te āhua ki tua i te taiao ia oma nei, tēnei te karanga a Te Arawhiti kia tono koe mō tētahi tūranga i konei. 

Me whai tohu kura tuatoru koe e hāngai ana, me whai wheako rānei e rite ana ki tēnei momo tohu. Kia pakari tonu ō pūkenga tūhonohono tangata, me āhei hoki koe te mahi tahi ki te tangata ahakoa ko wai, tae ki ngā Minita, ki ngā tari Kāwanatanga, ki a ngāi Māori anō hoki.
