We want to continue to build our reputation for innovation and cutting-edge strategic policy advice and have an opportunity for two talented and experienced Managers to lead our Education & Population Agencies; and Housing & Urban Growth teams.

You'll be responsible for

Manager, Education and Population Agencies

The Manager, Education and Population Agencies, leads the Treasury's work on the core education system.  There are a number of major reviews underway in the education sector with potentially significant fiscal and wellbeing impacts.  As a manager you will have a role to help connect education into the wider Future of Work discussions, so that New Zealanders have the skills and capabilities to adapt to a changing future.  The team also leads engagement with population agencies, working across agencies to support Māori and Pacific living standards.  We provide advice and support to the Minister of Finance on the funding and performance of the system and of individual agencies to support the Government's objectives.

Manager, Housing and Urban Growth 

The Manager, Housing and Urban Growth, leads the Treasury's advice on housing issues and the Urban Growth agenda. This is an area of significant focus for the Government with a number of reforms underway to improve New Zealand's housing market in order to improve housing affordability and housing outcomes for New Zealanders. As manager you will need operate across the housing system to influence senior leaders and ministers, and help ensure reforms are collectively creating the shift needed to improve housing outcomes. The team works closely with the newly-established Ministry for Housing and Urban Development and other agencies to support the delivery of the housing and urban development reform programmes, as well as providing advice to the Minister of Finance on the funding and performance of these agencies.
