ITS is responsible for the provision, maintenance and support of information and communication technology for staff and students at Massey University. Spanning three campuses, Auckland, Palmerston North and Wellington, we currently employ over 3,500 people, both full- and part-time. Approximately 18,000 students are enrolled across those campuses, with an additional 17,000 students enrolled as national and worldwide distance learning (extramural) students.

Leading the ITS - Infrastructure, Support and Operations team, you will have eight direct reports and overall responsibility for circa 80 - 100 staff. This is a challenging and exciting time to join the ITS team as we transition to a digital university. You will lead the operational planning for the ICT Infrastructure and Operations team, ensuring it aligns with the University and ITS strategic plan.

Key accountabilities include the following:

  • People leadership
  • Relationship management/ strategic engagement
  • Planning and performance Continuous improvement
  • Delivery
  • Monitoring and reporting

You'll have:

  • leadership experience within a large Information Technology department
  • extensive experience with managing a full range of ICT service delivery, business development or client management areas and working with diverse and sometimes conflicting stakeholder needs
  • extensive experience with complex software applications, databases and IT infrastructure environments
  • extensive experience in managing large, cross-functional teams or projects and influencing senior Executives and key stakeholders
  • experience leading the technical aspects of digital/ IT transformation
  • a project management qualification, e.g. PRINCE2, agile or combo
  • experience within a tertiary education institution (preferable).
