About Us

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is the Government's lead advisor on housing and urban development and will deliver the Government's programme to address homelessness, increase public and private housing supply, make existing homes warmer and healthier, make housing affordable for people to rent and buy, and lead quality urban development strategies to create thriving communities.

About the role

Working as part of a small team within the Office of the Chief Executive, you will have the opportunity to help shape and contribute to this recently established team. This will include supporting the Manager, Ministerial Services with fine-tuning emerging systems, processes, and quality control.

This position will also have you taking a leadership role within the team, by providing quality assurance, peer support, coaching and technical advice to colleagues along with partnering with key stakeholders within HUD.  

About you

You'll have a strong background in working on complex or high risk subject matters, and have the ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders. You'll have strong intellectual capability to anticipate and meet the needs of the team and easily be able to navigate ambiguity.

Your experience will include:

  • Strong experience in operating within a Machinery of Government role, with particular experience in the preparation and delivery of Ministerial Correspondence, Parliamentary Questions, Cabinet Documents, Reports to Ministers and Official Information Requests
  • Strong intellectual capability to analyse and synthesise requests and scope work requirements to be addressed
  • Sensitivity to how people and organisations function
  • Experience in coaching and ability to mentor individuals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to present complex messages in a clear, jargon-free way tailored to the needs of the audience
  • An ability to see the bigger picture and make connections across work areas
  • High standards of professionalism and performance driven
  • Ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships and to develop trust and credibility with others.
