Job Description

What you will do

In this role you will be responsible for the day-to-day control and operation of The Defence Technology Agency (DTA) administrative functions and develop procedures to meet specific administration requirements. As this is a senior position you will provide managerial oversight of the general administrative and stores and cleaning services to ensure these are provided daily in an efficient and effective manner. 

Another aspect to the role will see you providing PA support to the Director and Senior Management, taking responsibility for managing and coordinating all the administrative functions for the Director.

What we need

We are seeking a person who is a career administrator with significant experience in modern PA support and office administration, including the use of administrative support software. You possess a high level of computer literacy with advanced level in the Microsoft Office suite.

This is a busy role which includes organising domestic and international travel, approving expenditure for stationery, furniture, miscellaneous stores, arranging accommodation and coordinating appointments. The role does have direct reports where you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the supply chain and inventory coordinator, events officer/receptionist, facility coordinator and contracted cleaning staff.

You are an excellent communicator who can work with a diverse range of people across the organisation and across external agencies. Planning and organising are strengths of yours, you have your finger on the pulse while also having that continuous improvement mind-set.

In terms of qualifications we are seeking a recognised certificate or diploma in business studies or an equivalent amount of all round administration experience.

The Defence Technology Agency (DTA) is a business unit established to provide applied research, exploratory development, and policy studies on science, technology and related areas with application to military technology, force development and operations.  The Agency may be required to be involved in, or undertake on behalf of the Services, all aspects of investigation, development and introduction into Service of defined initiatives.  This may include, but is not confined to, primary scientific investigation, experimentation, simulation, prototype development and product improvement, product or process development and commercialization.

  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
