Would you like to be a part of governing a Crown entity in the arts, culture and heritage sector?

Do you have museum or heritage knowledge and experience?

We are seeking candidates who wish to be considered for appointment as a member of the Te Papa Board, on behalf of the Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage.

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

Being a board member of a Crown entity is rewarding and challenging. You will be involved in setting strategic direction and priorities, setting board policies and expectations for management, identifying and managing risk, and monitoring and evaluating the performance of the organisation. In this role, your focus will be to add value and drive the performance of Te Papa.

Kōrero mōu | About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • time and energy for the position
  • experience on a governing board
  • established relationships across the museum and heritage sector
  • an understanding of accountability to the public and awareness of government priorities
  • experience in interpreting financial statements and assessing risks for an organisation.

You don't have to tick all the boxes. Any person who feels they can meet most of our criteria is welcome to apply. We value diversity and do not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability status.

You may live anywhere in Aotearoa. However, you will be expected to travel to Wellington for meetings.
