About Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities

Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities, brings together the three existing agencies of Housing New Zealand, HLC and KiwiBuild to form a new organisation.

Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities is central to the Government's aspirations for housing and urban development. It will work across the housing spectrum to build thriving communities where everyone has a place to call home.

This new organisation will have two key roles - being a public housing landlord, and partnering with the development community, iwi, local and central government to deliver urban development projects of all sizes.

The anticipated start date for this new organisation is 1 October 2019.

The roles

Our vision is 'Building lives and communities by housing New Zealanders'. To help us achieve this, we are currently recruiting for several Customer Support Advisors.

You will be the first point of contact for our customers, answering inbound telephone enquiries, providing excellent customer service and working closely with our stakeholders to resolve a range of issues and queries. You will assist primarily with property maintenance, accounts and tenancy issues, and can look forward to receiving full training from a supportive team.

What you'll need to bring:

  • Previous experience working in a contact centre, social housing environment or customer-focused role, working with a diverse stakeholder group
  • Ability to adjust your communication style to suit your audience
  • Ability to comprehend information quickly to determine circumstances and choose an appropriate course of action while following best practice and process
  • Technically competent to navigate a computer screen and type while talking
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm to provide exceptional customer service

Hours are 9.30am - 6.00pm (Monday to Friday).

Assessment Centres will be run on Monday, 9 September and Thursday, 12 September 2019.

Induction - will commence Monday, 21 October 2019 for four weeks.
