Psychologists/Special Education Advisers

Based in Waikato

We invite you to join our vibrant, committed and supportive team of Psychologists/Special Education Advisers. 

You will be part of our severe behaviour service in schools and in some cases, early intervention.  You will provide ecological assessment, intervention, and training, and will also support facilities to provide inclusive practices that enable student success.

You will need strong teaming skills and the competency to establish effective relationships with whānau, parents, families, educators and key providers working within the community. 

An awareness and sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity, a strong commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi, the Ministries priorities and the Māori education strategy ‘Ka Hikitia', are essential.  A knowledge of Te Reo me ngā Tikanga and previous successful engagement with Māori is highly desirable.

Applicants must be registered or. eligible for. registration as a psychologist or. have relevant experience in schools. Intern psychologists will be considered. A current driver's license is required. The Ministry of Education has an equal opportunities policy.
