Job Description

Play a key role in shaping the Government's economic policy agenda 

  • Provide strategic policy advice to improve New Zealander's living standards
  • Lead complex and challenging policy projects

The appointment range for the Analyst role is $78,069 - $105,623.  The appointment range for the Senior Analyst role is $112,837 - $132,749.

The Treasury is the New Zealand Government's lead economic and financial advisor. Our vision is to be a world-leading Treasury working towards higher living standards for New Zealanders. We have an opportunity for talented and high achieving Analysts and Senior Analysts to join the Economic Strategy and Productivity team.

The Economic Strategy and Productivity team leads the Treasury's advice to Government on building a productive, sustainable and inclusive economy. We apply the Treasury's Living Standards Framework to our strategic policy advice on the Government's budget priorities and New Zealand's economic performance.

We have opportunities related to:

  • Helping the Government to implement its economic strategy and wellbeing agenda
  • Developing analysis of New Zealand's economic performance
  • Advising Ministers on policy settings to improve New Zealand's economic performance

 

This role would suit those with expertise in economics, public policy, and strategic thinking. If you have been successful working in critical and complex policy areas, and you understand how to use your strong communication, influencing and analytical skills to get traction on complex policy problems, then we would like to hear from you.

For an appointment at the Senior Analyst level, you will already have a significant breadth and depth of analytical experience. A Senior Analyst role provides the opportunity to guide others and further develop your leadership skills.
