Great opportunity for influential individuals who can navigate organisational complexity with ease!

About us

Here at Inland Revenue (IR) we are well advanced into a multi-year business transformation which will modernise our entire operation. As a customer-centric organisation, IR's goal is to give customers the best possible experience when using the NZ tax system. This is resulting in significant changes to how we operate and engage with customers, and the way that our people undertake their work.

About the role

On this transformation journey we have identified organisational people capabilities that will be pivotal to our success. The Learning and Development Team are playing a significant role in helping the business develop the capability we need by weaving the capabilities into our existing learning or building new learning to address capability gaps.

We are fundamentally changing the way we do learning. We are looking for strong L&D practitioners to help us transform and innovate the way we do learning. Learning that is capability led, modular, and integrated; designed to help our people to perform today and transform for the future.

As a Performance and Capability Consultant, you will:

  • take a joint lead role to develop and deliver the programme of work that underpins our Learning Evolution
  • make connections and navigate the organisation to influence decisions and clear the way for new ways of learning
  • share the thought leadership to achieve the desired impact throughout the organisation
  • work with the business on how to use the new ways of learning to deliver on their capability uplift requirements

What you'll need to bring to the role

  • a strong generalist L&D or organisational development background with a reputation for delivery
  • the ability to work with other learning professionals to develop a programme of work and execute it successfully in a pragmatic way
  • project management skills demonstrated on large projects, with the ability to determine what work needs to be done and break it down into the component parts
  • effective stakeholder relationship skills to engage across the business
  • experience partnering with external vendors to get the best results when it comes to designing and delivering ‘the goods'
  • resilience with the ability to deliver even when faced with ambiguity and complexity – particularly given the scale and nature of our business as we continue to transform

Additional information

We are offering you a supportive team environment with the scope to truly shape and deliver your own work programme within clearly defined objectives. The team are very skilled operators who possess a strong sense of pride in their work, are excellent collaborators, produced internationally award-winning leadership programmes, and enjoy having a laugh. This role can either be based in Wellington, Hamilton, Christchurch, Manukau or Takapuna.
