Job Description

Crown Law Te Tari Ture o te Karauna

Leading a review of Crown Law's Financial Management and HR Information Systems

We are looking for someone to lead a review of our financial management, and human resources, information systems and implement the necessary system changes. You will be working for a Government department that operates at the heart of New Zealand's constitution. Crown Law is underpinned by strong values that 'how' we do our work is as important as 'what' we do. This is an exciting role, working in a great team, in an organisation with a clear vision, which makes a real difference for New Zealanders.

Crown Law provides legal advice and representation to the Government in matters that affect all New Zealanders, particularly in the areas of criminal, public and administrative law including the Treaty of Waitangi, human rights and New Zealand's constitution. At Crown Law you will work with corporate professionals and public lawyers committed to the rule of law and find professional challenges and opportunities that you won't find anywhere else.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will lead the review of our existing financial and HR systems and processes. You will be coming into an organisation that is re-setting how it captures and provides data and information to management and other stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to help design how the systems operate, and then lead the delivery of new solutions and/or enhancements to the existing systems.

You will have strong experience in successfully implementing financial systems and financial management tools and processes. You will have great relationship and stakeholder management skills. You will have the ability to plan effectively; shifting between the big picture and maintaining good attention to detail. You will be a team player who can work constructively across the organisation to always put the interests of Crown Law first. Knowledge and experience of financial management in the NZ public sector is also desirable.

This role is a fixed-term for a period of two years and is based in Wellington. We support different flexible working arrangements to enable us to be our best. Please talk to us about how we can make this work for you.

Applications should include a covering letter and curriculum vitae. To be considered for these roles you must have a legal right to live and work in New Zealand, and are required to complete a Ministry of Justice Criminal Records Check.
