The Regulatory Service group ensures focused, clear, effective end to end regulatory systems management of risks and improve safety and regulatory outcomes by creating a primary accountability for. regulatory management. The group is accountable for. operational policy, entry, in-service performance, and exit functions to manage harms and risk. The group ensures the setting of clear and consistent expectations in terms of policy, practices, procedures and processes so that customers and regulated parties know what is expected of them and what to expect from us. 


The role

The purpose of this role is to manage a national team which is responsible for. monitoring entry, delivering education, auditing and building a culture of willing compliance with the providers delivering training and testing for. driver licensing.

The team is responsible for. ensuring that this vital service of the Transport Agency is provided to all regulated parties in a consistent fashion and that risks are identified and resourced appropriately across New Zealand.

You will enjoy using your relationship management skills to build strong relationships with key stakeholders as well as educate and influence. You will have a good understanding of audit and investigation processes. You will have an excellent customer service focus and be a self-motivated person who is flexible and agile in their approach to work.


What you will bring

As well as your leadership attributes, you will need to bring your ‘know how':

     Knowledge & experience:

  • Experience leading a national team and managing workflows to address areas of risk
  • Proven experience in a senior. role within a regulatory and/or. infrastructure environment
  • Focused on outcomes and process improvements to align to a nationally focused team
  • Understanding of New Zealand driver licensing, training and testing system would be beneficial
  • Proven experience in a systems auditing and interventions role within a large complex organisation
  • Deep understanding and expertise of the regulatory and compliance requirements of the New Zealand transport system
  • Experience in influencing and building credibility across a range of stakeholders to achieve regulatory, safety compliance outcomes
  • Strong understanding and experience of audit and investigation processes
  • Excellent communication skills

     Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications at preferably post graduate level in a relevant discipline or. equivalent experience
