We are looking for a Financial Analyst to join our Finance team in Wellington on a permanent basis.

To assist and support MPI's goals, we have a fantastic opportunity in Wellington for someone to join our Finance team within the Finance, Property and Procurement directorate as a Financial Analyst. You will join a supportive team that take pride in their work and strive for excellence.


About the role 

The Financial Analyst will provide financial analysis, processes and reporting advice for MPI to support the development and production of quality reporting, planning and budgeting information.

You will become recognised as someone who understands the available data and how best to get it, present it and explain it. You will be expected to recommend process and system improvements as you identify them and have the enthusiasm and tenacity to convert these to delivered gains wherever possible.

You will have proven experience in financial analysis, modelling and report development in a large organisation as well as experience in providing business insights from a variety of data sets. This will include the ability to be able to collaborate effectively with business facing finance professionals and specialist systems staff in Finance, HR and IT.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have

  • Experience working across organisations to align processes
  • Experience in report writing in Technology One or similar software
  • A strong understanding of the financial and performance reporting requirements within the Public Sector and the Public Finance Act
  • Strong relationship management skills
  • Ability to make sense of complex or ambiguous issues, high degree of initiative and great critical thinking skills
